Yes, it is EU Regulation no. 1007/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of the 27th of
September 2011 and entered into force on 8 May 2012. This regulation is relative to the official names
of the textile fibers, the fibrous composition, the methods of labeling, in the language of each EU
member country.

Are abbreviations of the materials on the labels allowed?
No, the initials of the fibers are NOT allowed, incorrect translations are punishable.

Yes, they are optional and indications such as article code, sizes can be entered, the lot, barcode, etc.
Is information related to washing the garment mandatory?
Yes, they must be indicated with the sequence washing symbols (washing, bleaching, drying, ironing,
professional cleaning). For some countries, depending on the legislation, in addition to the washing
symbols, instructions of maintenance may also be mandatory.
In case of missing or non-compliant labels, can I incur in some sanctions?
Yes, in Italy there are administrative sanctions from € 103 to € 40,000 depending on the violations.
Is there a regulatory reference that defines the penalties for incorrect labeling?
Yes, the penalties for irregular labeling in Italy refer to Legislative Decree No. 190 of the 11/15/2017.
Who is responsible for the control?
